Ebb and Flow
Ebb and flow
Shells on an abandoned beach
Glisten with mysteries
Washed in retreating waves
Either prettily whole
With the pattern of life
That lived within them
Or broken into fragments
Some brittle, some smooth
Alone now in their millions
They crumble and crunch
Wearing with the tides
Winds and frictious contact
Until eventually
Like all perfect creations
They wittle down
To sand grains
So light, so fragile
Beginning again
Their grand story
Of becoming
