La Resistance 4/23/20
Short on inspiration while dining in, again, I wonder
how much I can save by not ordering all my favorites,
and instead designing meals on a dime,
leading ways to avoid the temptation? Immersive shows
of Donald Judd, and live readings in Vermont,
and counting down the days until far off ballot day
Our society may never be the same, with all its cracks
exposed, and my job exposed too,
as a nonessential ruckus that’s been interrupting
my mornings and sleep all too long for so many years,
now I’m free, thinking about a campaign strategy,
to get through the time now no dollars mark the hours
Stopping the spread of things, in the meantime,
except my poetry! My only festival, watch it go off,
as I make sure everybody online is staying informed
about what I’m doing in my room, alone,
when both of my hands are free to roam the keyboard,
spreading verses and following guidelines ‘till sleep.
