by Amy S. Pacini
We silently sit on the cringing couch
Hermetically huddled in our quarantine quarters
Quietly quaking inside with aghast angst and dazing distress
Woefully waiting for the storm of sickness to peacefully pass and wishing it would easingly end
This pandemic of plaguing pandemonium, permeating panic, paranoia, and pain.
Quickly quelling my infectious fears
Drying my tragic tears
Lightening my lonesome loads
Lifting my lamenting lows
Alleviating my achingly heavy heart
Ready for life’s wheels to rotate and reboundingly re-start.
We quietly kneel on the forgiving floor with petitioning prayers and panacea pleas to the Lord
For humble mercy, cleansing healing, and steadfast strength
To courageously carry us through this terrifying time of turbulent trials
Trusting God’s perfect plan with faith, assurance, and hope
For his glorious guidance, comforting care, and supreme sovereignty
As we narrowly navigate the wayward waters of unprecedentedly uncharted territory.
Tenaciously thrashing through the wanton waves
Dangerously drifting and swellingly swaying from sinking to swimming
Life and limb treacherously teetering on landing’s line between disease and death
Before steadily steering the battered boat despite frighteningly foreboding forecasts
Amidst precarious pressures and capsizing currents of challenging changes to curability.
Roughly riding out the stormy seas to safety’s surviving shore with masked mooring
Resiliently rising from the ailing ashes to achieve wholehearted wellness again
Teaming together testing therapeutic treatments
And persevering with pioneering viral vaccines tomorrow.
